Jonathan Lewis, BComm

President; Financial Security Advisor

President of Eastport, Jonathan fully embraces the values of family, community and philanthropy. Husband to Sara and dedicated father of Madeline and Clara. He is personally involved with a number of charities and community-based pursuits, touching the lives of many through volunteering, fundraising and advocating. In 2013, Jonathan founded the Jonathan David Wayne Lewis Foundation to further support primarily Christian non-profits that work to remove the barriers facing at-risk youth. At risk youth are near and dear to Jonathan’s heart given that at the age of 15, he lost his own father and experienced first hand some of the adversities that youth can encounter. The charities supported include the Halifax-based IWK Foundation, mobile soup kitchen “Street Connection”, the addictions recovery organization “Teen Challenge”, the Morningstar Orphanage in Peru, and the global children’s welfare charity ONEXONE.

Jonathan earned a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in finance from Saint Mary’s University and began his distinguished career as a financial advisor in 1999. He then founded Eastport Financial Group in 2004. Jonathan has personally qualified as a member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) since 2001, placing him in the top 1% of the industry worldwide. At the age of 34 he became the youngest ever Canadian “Top of the Table” qualifier in the history of MDRT. As a financial advisor, Jonathan has never settled for mediocrity and continuously challenges his clients to grow financially, professionally and personally. He brings his own unique energy to every meeting and prides himself on being as committed to his clients’ success as they are.

 

 

Andrew Parrott, BBA

Partner; Financial Security Advisor; Group Insurance Broker

Andrew Parrott became Eastport Financial Group’s first partner in 2011 having prior been an associate advisor with Eastport since 2005. A graduate of St. Francis Xavier University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Andrew has worked in the financial planning industry since 2001. As a financial advisor, Andrew prides himself on building client relationships with an emphasis on trust and mutual respect. He brings his centred, easy going nature to every meeting, aiming to achieve honest, open dialogue that will help him put his clients on the path to achieving their planning expectations.

Andrew engages in a number of philanthropic initiatives including participating in an advisory council with the IWK Foundation, volunteering with the Atlantic Salmon Federation which strives to conserve wild Atlantic salmon and their habitat, and working with Street Connection. Eastport partners up with Street Connection annually making our Christmas outreach such a success in both North Dartmouth and Bridgewater.

Andrew is dedicated father of two daughters, Josie and Andrea residing in Lawrencetown NS, with his wife, Heather. Andrew is an active member of his community and enjoys the outdoors, salmon fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

Andrew Blanchard, BA, MBA

Partner; Financial Security Advisor

Andrew Blanchard is a Halifax, South Shore and New Brunswick based financial advisor and an avid charity golfer. Andrew lives in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, with his wife, Calee and enjoys spending time off with family and friends. Andrew excels on the greens and has participated in numerous charity golf events, raising money for many causes including the Make a Wish Foundation. As a financial advisor, Andrew’s strong business management background and lively engaging style help him to work tirelessly on behalf of his clients to help them achieve their goals.

Dan Allain, BBA

Partner; Financial Security Advisor

Dan’s primary objective is to allow you to see your financial future with certainty and clarity. Over the past 18 years, Dan continues to sharpen his skills, and as the world gets more complicated, it seems Dan has an ability to slow things down. His focus is to bring simplicity and convenience to you.

Prior to joining Eastport Financial as a Partner in 2012, Dan was a senior private banker at BMO Harris Private Banking assisting high net-worth families with their personalized wealth management and banking needs. In 2011, he was recognized as one of the top private bankers in Canada.

Dan graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 1998 with a Bachelor of Business and, over the years, has continued to pursue educational opportunities and certifications in a commitment to his ongoing professional development. Dan notes “I learn from clients everyday, as we find ways to solve their unique problems.”

In his free time, Dan enjoys spending time with his family, coaching hockey as well as donating his time to the MacPhee Centre for Creative Learning (MCCL), a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth through arts. Dan lives in Hammonds Plains with his wife and two active boys.

Jordan Bain, BComm

Financial Security Advisor

Jordan Bain is a Yarmouth and Southwest Nova Scotia based financial advisor, a dedicated family man and an avid golfer. Jordan is the dedicated father of his son Karter and daughter Jayden, and lives in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia with his wife Tanya. Jordan is actively involved in his community as a volunteer hockey coach, a minor hockey board member and a YMCA board member. As a minor hockey coach, Jordan spends countless hours working with the kids on his son’s hockey team to develop both technical skills and sportsmanship. As a financial advisor, Jordan understands the value of building strong relationships with his clients. This allows him to cover all aspects of his clients’ planning needs to help them reach their financial goals.

 

Trevor Daigle, CFP, BBA

Financial Security Advisor

With over 20 years experience in the financial services industry there isn’t much Trevor hasn’t seen or done. Having successfully helped clients navigate through Y2K, the ensuing tech bubble burst of 2001, and Financial Crisis of 2008-2009. He brings a depth of experience and knowledge to his clients’ Financial Plans and portfolio management.

An advocate of life long learning to help provide the best quality of advice for his clients, Trevor earned his Certified Financial Planner’s Designation (CFP ) in 2008. Since then he has been actively volunteering his time with Advocis; the financial advisors industry association in Canada. Helping to ensure Financial Advisors are properly trained, educated and regulated to best serve their clients. This passion for learning has also led Trevor to understand that planning is an on-going and dynamic process that involves all members of a clients advisory team and not a single or annual event.

With a strong belief that communities are built through volunteering, Trevor has given time and expertise to various organizations throughout Nova Scotia including Bedford Minor Hockey, Mackenzie Taekwondo, and as a board member for various non-profit and charitable organizations.

As an advocate for work-life balance, Trevor can also be found spending time with his wife and their three children at the cottage, on the ski hill, coaching hockey, watching competitive gymnastics, or working on his next degree of black belt.

Brett Watt, BComm

Financial Security Advisor

Brett Watt started in the financial services industry upon graduating from Mount Allison University in the spring of 2014. Brett holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in finance and a minor in Economics. As a financial advisor Brett has continued his education and is in the process of obtaining his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.

Brett is now a Halifax-based financial advisor who focuses on building strong and lasting relationships with his clients. As someone who is very passionate about people and his relationships, Brett goes above and beyond working for his clients across the country.

Brett volunteers as a Board Member of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Nova Scotia chapter. As well as taking part in numerous different charity events around Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

During off time Brett enjoys activities such as hockey, squash, golf, and hiking. Brett is a member of Ashburn Golf Club in Halifax and when he is not on the golf course you can find him enjoying his time with friends and family.

Scott Sadler, FSA, FCIA

Senior Insurance Actuary

Prior to launching Tecumseh Insurance Services Inc. in 2008, Scott spent 11 years providing advanced sales support, actuarial advice, and counsel to elite advisors and their clients. In this role Scott frequently worked with clients, as well as their accountants, lawyers, and bankers to educate the involved parties on the rewards and risks inherent in various features of individual life insurance products. During this time Scott also spent three years as a lecturer in the Statistics & Actuarial Science department at the University of Western Ontario. He is a frequent speaker at actuarial and insurance industry conferences.

In addition to his professional activities, Scott has volunteered his expertise to numerous charitable organizations and committees in London, including the Planned Giving Committee at Parkwood Hospital, and serving as Chair of the Board of Directors of Original Kids Theatre Company.

 

Cy Korun, CLU, CFP, CFA

Partner; Director of Private Clients and Wealth Management

Cy Korun has more than 20 years of financial services industry experience. In 1992, he started working as a financial advisor in Edmonton and relocated to Halifax in 1997 to assume responsibilities as a Regional Manager of Retirement & Investment Services. He joined Eastport as the Director of Private Clients & Wealth Management in 2013, and works predominantly with Eastport’s private clients. Providing them with personalized portfolio construction and ongoing review and monitoring. Cy earned the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation in 1996, the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in 1997, the Chartered Financial Consultant (CH.F.C) designation in 1998, and became a CFA charter holder in 2001. He has been active in the industry and has been a featured speaker at many regional industry events. Cy has served on the board of the local Advocis chapter (the professional association of financial planners) and moderated several Advocis educational courses for financial advisors.

Cy is also a MoneySense Approved Financial Advisor, this is awarded to only those financial advisors who exceed MoneySense’s high standards in such areas as customer service, transparency and fees.

 
Rick Watt

Financial Security Advisor
Rick has spent over 30 years in the Financial Services industry. Upon graduating from UNB in 1984 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Rick began his career as a Financial Advisor with London Life in Saint John, New Brunswick. After 7 years as an advisor, Rick changed his path and joined the management ranks at London Life.

Following various roles, organizational changes and corporate mergers, Rick has spent the last 17 years as the Regional Director of Freedom 55 Financial for New Brunswick and PEI.
His extensive knowledge of the industry, corporate strategies, and relationship building skills will be helpful when working with clients to achieve their goals.

Rick has been involved with various charitable organizations and events over the years. He also played a part in the ownership group who launched the QMJHL’s last franchise, the Saint John Sea Dogs. Rick lives in Rothesay, New Brunswick with his wife Michele, and they have 3 adult children, Brett, Nicole and Jake.

Chasity Spindler, LLQP

Executive Assistant

Chasity is based in our Mahone Bay office. Born and raised on the South Shore of Nova Scotia where she currently resides with her Husband Chad and two children, Parker and Tenley. Chasity graduated second in her class from the Nova Scotia Community College in 2004 and has worked in management with a variety of different industries since she was 18. She began her career with Eastport Financial Group’s South Shore office in February 2005. Chasity successfully completed the Life License Qualification Program in 2006.
